Nero Nexus conforms with the 8th edition rules, policies and playtests. Some additional guidelines exist due to site issues, logisitic issues and/or player accomidations. All rules are in an effort to make the game more safe and enjoyable for all.
Nero Nexus reserves the right to modify this list at any time
- For the purposes of the 2009 NERO Nexus season, we will be using the policy of auto-max out which means that for all characters participating in a weekend there will be no cost to receive max-out. This policy comes with some changes to our NPC Benefits package to entice players to continue to volunteer to make a better game for their fellow players. If you have any questions about how this policy works, feel free to speak with a staff member at the event or e-mail staff@neronexus.com.
- Nero Nexus will be using the Mithril and Adamantite Playtest with some minor edits from the version used from Nero Midwest. This decision comes with the decision to also not simply allow reps to function in the system but will require a Nero Nexus tag to identify any pieces/units of mithril or adamantite. So if you are currently in possession of some mithril, and have the appropriate reps for these items- then you will need to turn in those reps for tags.
- Nero Nexus allows standard weapon construction, but will also allow players to use ultra-light weapons and those weapons known as "flat-blades." These weapons will be checked at check-in just like any other weapon and will be "failed" if found to be unsafe. Nero Nexus at this time will not allow latex weapons.
If Nero Nexus finds that the use of ultra-lights is causing too many issues of machine-gunning then we will reconsider allowing them, so please continue to abide by combat rules when using these weapons. Nero Nexus has the right to change this policy at anytime, as they see fit.
- Nero Nexus at this time will allow players to check in their transformations, and in doing so they will be provided with an appropriate stat card as determined by the Head of Plot. The policy for transformations can vary and differ on a case by case basis as plot decides is best for the overall game. The general policy of the transformation is that a player with a transform will check-in with the Head of Plot, they will be provided with a card that gives them both a Tier 0 and Tier 1 description and stats, and informed as to how their specific transform works in Nero Nexus.
The only person able to check-in a transform and provide stat card for a player with a transform is the Head of Plot, Steve Stivers. This can be done at the event or a week before the event via e-mail.
- Nero Nexus will be using battle boards for purposes of tracking and recording the use of player skills. It is the expectation of players at Nero Nexus that they update these sheets after every module, town encounter, and whenever any other time would provide for them to keep up to date.
Occasionally, Nero Nexus staff members may ask to see your battle board to ensure that the system is working effectively and players are being responsible in keeping these forms updated.
- Nero Nexus promotes its players to go out and recruit others to share in the Nero experience at our chapter. In order to promote this, Nero Nexus will offer a policy where someone bringing a new player to Nero will get a $10 discount at that event, 100 goblin points, and if that new player returns to Nero Nexus- at the their third Nero Nexus Event the person responsible for bringing them will get another $25 discount.
It should be noted, that the new player will of course be allowed to play their first event for the cost of membership alone. The three events required for this reward must be three full weekend events as a PC.
- Any players traveling to Nero Nexus should request that their character sheets be sent to Nero Nexus at least two days prior to the event or bring (2) hard copies of their character sheet to check-in.
- Nero Nexus accepts all out of chapter tags if they are unrestricted pending they have the appropriate phys reps required for them. All magic items and formal scrolls should be checked in at logistics.
Nero Nexus will only be accepting Unrestricted Items/Transforms/Production/Components, Regional Items which conform to our active playtests and LCO Nero Nexus and LCO Nero Midwest tags at this time. LCO items/transforms/production/components will not come into Nero Nexus for these tags are intended for use only in the issuing chapter.
Nero Nexus reserves the right to retag any Nero Midwest Item to conform to the Nero Nexus.
All magic items and formal scrolls must be checked in with a marshal before being brought into game.
- Nero Nexus has a rule that all players must rep all of their production items they carry on them, spell books, cantrip tomes, and magic items. All scrolls, potions, traps, alchemy, and weapons that are being carried on a player must always be accompanied by an appropriate rep for said item.
- NERO Nexus may use non-standard effects in game. If you are involved in any plot or modules that uses non-standard effects, you will be notified of them ahead of time. If you do not wish to be involved with non-standard effects advise the marshal on the mod and you will be able to step away. If you have any question about non-standard effects for the event ask at logistics during check in.
- Logistical Reset may take place anytime between the hours of 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
At no time may reset be taken while on a module or encounter unless approved directly from the president of NERO Nexus prior to execution of the module or encounter.
