The following are the official Laws within the Kingdom of Élan .

HIGH CRIMES are those punishable by death and tried by someone of at least the rank of Baron.
Punishment:
1st offense 1 death
2nd offense 1 death; denial of citizenship rights
3rd offense 1 death; expulsion from the King's lands
4th offense + Obliteration
Anyone found guilty of a High Crime will be marked with the High Crime Spirit Mark and so will be recognizable to all who see them. This Spirit Mark may not be removed but must remain for one year on pain of Obliteration.

LOW CRIMES are those laws that are not punishable by death for the first offense and are tried by someone of at least the rank of Knight.
Punishment:
1st offense 5 gold piece fine
2nd offense 10 gold piece fine
3rd offense 25 gold piece fine
4th offense 50 gold piece fine
5th offense 1 death after trial by Baron or above
- Accomplice
One who willingly operates, aids, or assists in the commission of a crime by either action or inaction. Those fully aware of their participation in the unlawful act shall bear the criminal responsibility as if they were the sole participants of said crime.
- Contempt
Willful disobedience of the authority or declaration of nobility giving the lawful orders made for the benefit of the people and the support of the law
- Counterfeiting
Falsely making of any currency with the intent to defraud
- False Accusation - High Crime
To willfully bring charges of a commission of an illegal activity (high crime) by an individual or individuals without the proper evidence to support it
- Flight from Prosecution
The unlawful flight to avoid a trial or punishment for a crime
Punishment Modification: if found guilty of original crime(s) then the punishment moves up one tier -- if found innocent of original charges then punishment for the Flight from Prosecution is tried as High Crime and starts at first level punishment.
- Forgery
Falsely making or materially altering by hand or otherwise, with intent to defraud, any document or symbol which if genuine would be of legal efficacy or foundation of a legal claim
- Impersonating a Noble
To knowingly and falsely presenting oneself by document or statement to be of noble station
- Manslaughter
The willful killing of another individual impulsively and without premeditation, with dissipation and resurrection
- Murder with Intent
The unlawful and premeditated killing of another sentient being
- Necromancy with Reanimation
The use of any spell, ability, or item that causes the creation or release of undead as well as the use of any spell, ability, or item that transforms a living being into undead.
- Owning Slaves - Slavery
The willful holding of an individual against their will such that said individual has no freedom of action and whose person and services are wholly under the control of another (sentient)
- Selling Slaves
The willful selling of an individual against their will such that said individual shall have no freedom of action and whose person and services are under control of another in entirety. (sentient)
- Treason
The communication, transmission, or delivery (or attempts to communicate, transmit, or deliver) any document or information relating to the Kingdom's defense to any foreign government or faction that threatens the rule of the Crown. Also any act that results in the murder of any noble (Knight or higher) of the Kingdom of Élan.
Punishment Modification: Obliteration & denial of citizenship rights up to expulsion from the King's lands

Commission of Assault with the intent of committing additional crimes

The premeditated and unlawful use of force or violence, constraint or mischief upon the person of another
- Artificially Influencing Others
To prevent a sentient being from being able to form or express their own opinions or make their own decisions through use of arcane or alchemical means
- Attempted Murder
An unlawful attempt or declaration (written or unwritten) on the part of one or several to cause the death of any sentient being (except where sanctioned by the legal authorities of the Kingdom of Élan or an official act of war by the Crown)
- Battery
The unlawful use of force or violence, constraint or mischief upon the person of another without premeditation
- Blackmail
Something of value obtained by threats of public exposure or criminal prosecution
- Bribery
The offering, giving, receiving or solicitation of something of value for the purpose of influencing the action of a person responsible for the discharge of public or legal duties
- Burglary
The unlawful entry, usually at night, into a building or other structure with the intent to commit theft
- Destruction of Property
The willful destruction or damage to any property of another or of the Kingdom or the destruction of one's own property if it is done for some later benefit
- Extortion
To obtain something of value from an individual by force, intimidation, or undue or illegal power
- False Accusation - low crime
To willfully bring charges of a commission of an illegal activity (low crime) by an individual or individuals without the proper evidence to support it
- Fencing Stolen Property
The sale of goods known to be stolen in expectation of monetary benefit
- Fraud
Any willful misrepresentation, either by misstatement or omission of a material fact, knowingly made with the intention of misrepresentation to another and on which a reasonable person would and does rely to his or her detriment
- Kidnapping
The forcible and unlawful abduction or confinement of an individual against their will
- Libel
The penning of knowingly false or malicious words concerning another whereby such statements injure their reputation
- Mockery of a Noble Title
To deride, ridicule, or obviously and intentionally disrespect the personage, coat of arms or colors of an individual recognized as a noble in the Kingdom of Élan
- Necromancy (battle magic)
The use of any spell, ability, cantrip, ritual or item that calls upon chaos or causes a chaos effect
- Operating a Business or Guild without Charter
Use or action taken without proper certification by the Kingdom of Élan
- Obstruction of Justice
The failure to report a crime is itself a crime.
- Perjury
To knowingly lie or make false or misleading statements to a noble or Kingdom officer in the course of an official investigation or trial
- Piracy
Theft of commerce along international trade routes
- Possession of Controlled Substances
To have on your person or your belonging any proscribed Potions or Elixirs including but not limited to: Love Potions, Love Potion #9, Forget it well, Forget me not, Necromantic potions, Enslavement, Dominate or any other potion that affects the free will of another.
- Reckless Endangerment
Risking the death of another under circumstances that show an extreme indifference to the value of life
- Slander
The speaking of knowingly false or malicious words concerning another whereby such statements injure their reputation
- Tax Evasion
To avoid the payment of taxes on income or goods and services
- Theft
To use any portion of or take possession of the property of another against their will

The following Alchemies are illegal to use or possess
- Enslavement
- Dominate
- Forget it well
- Forget me not
- Love
- Love potion #9
The following Formal Magic's are illegal to cast and possess unless otherwise noted
- ALL create Undead scrolls
- ALL transform to undead scrolls
- ALL Summon Undead Scrolls
- Call of Chaos (possession of this scroll is not illegal)
- Create permanent Chaos Circle
- Create Chaos Node*
The following potions are illegal to use or possess
- Taint Blood
- Wither Limb
Cause damage alchemies are NOT illegal as they do not invoke or channel power from chaos despite their similar names.
- The Royal Library Maintains a Copy of all Create Node Scrolls to maintain the Elemental Balance throughout Élan, If decreed by the King, the creation of a new Chaos node may be sanctioned. Such a sanctioned act is not illegal nor is the scroll maintained for this contingency.
Euphoria or Intoxicant is not illegal when used upon oneself, its used upon others without their permission however is a crime.
